Alumni feature in Entrepreneurship Competitions

RAA graduates have had great success in entrepreneurship competitions in 2013:

  • Palesa Moeketsi (Class of Jan 2011) was the WINNER in the 2012 REGIONAL SEDA Small Stars competition and went on to achieve first runner up in the NATIONAL competition. She was also a regional WINNER in the 2011/2012 SAB Kickstart competition. See her website www.chesacommunications.co.za.

 

  • Darren Barnes (June 2008), Stacey Thorne (June 2008) and Aubrey Dolweni (July 2011) were selected as part of the 60 finalists in the 2012/2013 SAB Kickstart competition. They are still participating in the competition and we await the outcome.

 

  • Sizwe Nzima (Jan 2012), Warra Nqeketho (July 2011), Siyabulela Daweti (July 2011) and Daniel Thebe (Jan 2010) – all RAA Alumni start-up businesses have been selected for the next round of the SAB Innovation Awards. 24 finalists were chosen from over 200 entries. Sizwe was one of the top 6 finalists.

 

  • 4 RAA Alumni presented at the Africa Social Entrepreneurs Network pitching session. The RAA achieved 4 OUT OF THE TOP 5 positions.

 

  • Abigail Florence (July 2010) was named one of the 10 national winners (the only finalist from Cape Town) in the Shanduka Black Umbrellas and Media 24 brand strategy competition 

 

  • Sisa Makakula (January 2012) achieved fourth place in the national semi-finals of the Pitch and Polish competition.
